Grip-Bar helps stabilise rocks in Hastings

Grip-Bar stainless steel anchors have been used to secure steel cables holding rock fall netting on the cliffs at Hastings.

Sheffield based manufacturer Stainless UK Ltd have supplied specialist geotechnical contractor Ritchies with Grip-Bar stainless steel anchors to secure cables holding rock fall netting on the cliffs below historic Hastings castle. The barrier has been installed to protect the public highway and access along Rock-a-Nore road.

As part of the overall project, Ritchies installed a 85m x 3m rock control fence designed to the latest Swiss guidelines. The fence posts were fixed onto pairs of mini piles with a third anchorage placed up slope to attach restraining cables.

30mm Grip-Bar stainless steel anchors were grouted into holes drilled into the rock to secure the fencing.

The project forms part of ongoing works along the Hastings cliff face.
